EDERA launches Offsite Hub Italia
EDERA, an innovation hub promoted by the construction and social housing sector and a national reference point for modern methods of construction, launches Offsite Hub Italia: the first and largest Italian network of expertise and relationships to guide, coordinate and develop the innovation needed to make the construction industry sustainable.
A shared space to give a voice to the innovative construction sector and Modern Methods of Construction, open to:

Why an Italian Offsite Construction Hub
Let's lead innovation together
The European Affordable Housing Plan, like the Green Homes Directive before it, urgently calls for investment in new construction methods and offsite building to address the major challenge of combining affordability and sustainability in housing.
Our country in particular needs a transformation in the way we build, integrating economic and social sustainability, quality and safety, in order to create an inclusive and future-proof built environment, both in renovation and new construction.
Offsite Hub Italia aims to guide, coordinate and develop the necessary innovation by giving space and a voice to the innovative construction sector and Modern Methods of Construction.
Areas of Work
Three are the working directions that drive Offsite Hub:
- EnergieSprong Retrofits. An open innovation programme for the development and dissemination of industrialised solutions enabling deep renovation of the existing building stock, compressing the time and costs of interventions. Active for over 5 years, it currently counts nearly 100 member organisations — including companies, designers, facilitators, property managers and public authorities — 1,000 homes already renovated and 4 cities involved in large-scale replication processes.
- Industrialised New Construction. An open innovation programme to develop new building models — residential and otherwise — based on industrialised construction processes and Modern Methods of Construction (MMC). Its primary objective is to make it possible to build affordable homes with timescales, costs and quality levels compatible with the scale of housing demand, while also improving quality, safety, environmental sustainability, inclusivity and circularity in new construction generally.
- Modular Temporary Housing. An open innovation programme aimed at exploring and developing factory-produced building solutions with designed reversibility, rapidly installable on site and conceived to be dismantled, repositioned and transformed according to changing needs over time. This approach makes it possible to deliver quality spaces within certain timeframes, reducing costs, environmental impact and land consumption, while enabling urban regeneration processes capable of responding swiftly to peaks in housing emergency.
What We Will Do Together
Giving a voice to offsite innovation and MMC
Offsite Hub Italia brings together all the expertise needed to design, grow and establish the Italian offsite construction movement, developing a ready and competitive market in our country too. Activities include:
- representing interests at Italian and European level to implement standards, regulations and incentives favourable to the development of the offsite and MMC market
- building shared knowledge on MMC and offsite construction through technical documents and seminars
- monitoring the performance of the offsite and MMC market at national level through a report on the state of the art of offsite construction in Italy
- communicating and promoting the world of offsite and MMC
- accelerating the development of the offsite and MMC market through three open innovation programmes
In Europe
EDERA is a founding member of IC-Europe, the European Association of Industrialised Construction.
The new European Construction Industry association brings together those who, like us, are working to create an efficient and competitive European market for offsite solutions and modern methods of construction. Together we have already begun to bring the voice of Italian excellence to where the rules for the future of the sector are being written: the European Parliament and Commission, which is developing the Competitiveness Coordination Tool (CCT), and the ministries, which are drawing up the Housing Plan and new instruments to guide the transition. With Offsite Hub you can play a leading role in this dialogue, helping to define the priority agenda and the working directions for engaging with institutions.
